Snack/Milk and Juice Forms

Third trimester healthy snack and milk/juice program will begin on Monday, March 10th and continue through Friday, May 30th.  Forms were sent home with students today. Please return the form and payment to your child's teacher no later than Thursday, March 6th.

ODOB - Hamster Family Newsletter

Chris Monroe

Local author and illustrator, Chris Monroe will be visiting Pleasantview on Friday, March 21st.  She is the author and illustrator of Monkey with a Tool Belt and several other titles.  Chris lives in Duluth and travels to schools inspiring students.  Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will have an opportunity to listen to her talk about her books as well as her writing and illustrating process.  After her presentations, she will be holding an autograph session.  If you wish to pre-order one of her books, please fill out the information on the order form sent home today and return it to your classroom teacher along with payment by Friday, February 28th.  Make sure to include the teacher name, grade, student name, who it should be personalized to and the quantity you would like to order.  Make checks payable to Chris Monroe.

Book Donation

A big thank you to Owen for donating a new book to our classroom library, I Survived The Battle of Gettysburg, 1863.  This book is part of series that tells a thrilling story from history from the eyes of a boy that survived to tell the story.  Books from this series have been very popular among fourth graders this year.

Valentine's Day Card Holder Winners

Great job to all students who entered their valentine card holder into the contest!  It was so much fun to see all the different boxes.  We have some very creative students in fourth grade.

Pizza Ranch Night

Mark your calendars!  Pleasantview Pizza Ranch Night will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, February 17th.  Wear your PV gear and mention that you are from Pleasantview when ordering/paying! Valid on delivery and carryout orders too. We hope to see you there!

Reading/Math Facts Log

Math: 8-6 Remembering Side and Input/Output Worksheet with Parent Signature (The homework side was done together in class.)

New Word Study List: Students should choose 3 activities to complete and return the form with a parent signature next Tuesday. They will be tested on these words Tuesday, February 18th.

Valentine's Day

Our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 13th.  If your child chooses to bring cards or a treat, please remember to include everyone.  There are 29 students in our class.  A class list was sent home with your child this week.

Don’t forget to bring in a creatively constructed valentine's cardholder.  We will be holding a contest for the following categories:

Most Red, Pink, and Purple

The judging will be done by the students and take place on Thursday, February 13th.  This is an optional activity.  If you choose not to participate in the contest, please bring in some type of holder for your cards.

2013-2014 YEARBOOK

Yearbook order forms were sent home today.  The cost to order a yearbook is $14.50.  All forms are due February 21, 2014.

CELEBRATE READING!

Dear Parents,

The Media Center will be having a voluntary contest during the month of February to celebrate "I Love to Read Month."  The contest will run from February 1-13 and winners will be announced on February 24th.  The contest will be open to any student who wishes to participate.

Contest Rules:

1.  Students need to have a picture taken of themselves reading a book someplace.  The book and  location are up to you.  Please use a digital camera and have it set to the highest resolution.  If your child wins you will be asked to email the jpg file to Mrs Euteneuer.

2.  The picture must be turned into Mrs. Euteneuer or Carol no later than Thursday, February 13th.

3.  Photos used for this contest will not be returned.

We will select one winning photo per grade level.  All pictures that are entered will be displayed in the media center for one month.  The winning photos will be blown up into a poster (thus we need high quality photo in order to enlarge it) and displayed in the media center (we keep the posters up until they graduate 5th grade)!  Winners will also receive prizes.

Donuts With Dad

The 4th annual "Donuts with Dad" Event will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 7:00-7:30  am.  Donuts will be served in the cafeteria and cost $1.00 each.  People will be available to answer questions if you are interested in our WATCH DOGS Program.  All dads, grandpas, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers are welcome.  If you would like to volunteer to be a WATCH DOG for a day, remember you must first complete a background check ($14) through the district.
