Electricity and Magnetism

Last week in Science, we began our unit on Electricity and Magnetism.  This chapter focuses on the following topics:

Lesson 1 - What Is an Electric Current?  We discussed how objects get an electric charge and how does an electric current flow?

Lesson 2 - How Do Electric Circuits Work?  Students learned about two types of circuits and investigated the path of electricity by constructing a series and parallel circuit.

Lesson 3 - What Is Magnetism?  Monday, we will investigate how magnets act and learn how the earth is like a magnet.   On Tuesday, we will be making an electromagnet.

Lesson 4 - How Do Electricity and Magnetism Work Together?  During Wednesday's lesson, we will discover how a magnet can make electricity, explore how electricity can make a magnet and learn how electromagnets are useful.  During Thursday's lab, students will experiment and determine how the number of coils in an electromagnet affects its strength.

ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM TEST: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH.
